MiTi® Awarded AFWERX Grant for 3D-Printed Turbomachinery Research

We are proud to announce that MiTi’s proposed project “3D-Printed Compressor-Turbine Sets with Internal Cooling” has been selected by the Air Force, through their AFWERX innovation program, to continue research into the advancement of low-cost manufacturing processes of oil-free turbomachinery.

The project’s research responds to the Air Force’s stated need to identify and demonstrate dual industry technologies (defense and commercial) of new materials and manufacturing processes that can be applied to attritable unmanned air systems (UAS) and low cost space systems.

To this end, MiTi will leverage and expand upon its ongoing effort to implement the use of superalloy 3D printing technology into the manufacture of inexpensive radial inflow turbomachinery with internal cooling for power and propulsion applications.
